Retrospective replay

100 hours, replayed from the simulation.

A fixed window of 6,000 consecutive rounds taken from the second simulation, since completed at 1,000,001 cards on each track — the equivalent of 100 hours at 60 seconds per completed round. Two OddsOfBlackjack bet-sizing rules are each compared with Basic Strategy — Flat Bet over the same number of rounds.

Retrospective analysis of simulated data — not real play and not a new simulation. Bets use a fixed $10 unit, not the balance-based sizing of the current app. The OOB and Basic Strategy tracks follow separate card paths and do not play identical hands. One 100-hour window is a single path, not a forecast or guarantee.

Hour by hour

Realised result over the 100 equivalent hours.

R is the realised net result inside the window: everything won minus everything staked. Every curve starts at $0 at hour 0. Both charts use the same scale, and Basic Strategy — Flat Bet is the same curve in each.

Each account enters the window with its own history in the simulation: the starting balance is reported as it was, with no silent reset to $1,000. R in the charts and in the table is only the result inside the window. C is available for the OOB accounts only; for Basic Strategy no EV model is attributed, so C is not available. R − C is the realised result minus the model contribution; it is not attributed entirely to the variation of the cards.

Method, data and provenance

How the window was fixed and what the numbers mean.

How the window was chosen

The window was fixed in a manifest before the window-specific results were calculated, and it was not adjusted afterwards. The manifest was built only from round numbers and card positions. The simulation was already partly reviewed at that time, so this is not a blind selection on unknown data.

  • OOB track: rounds 26,291–32,290, starting after 140,002 cards dealt.
  • Basic Strategy track: rounds 26,287–32,286, starting after 140,001 cards dealt.
  • Both start at the first round begun at or after 140,000 cards, and both contain 6,000 rounds.
  • 60 seconds per completed round, including OOB rounds observed without a bet. A split stays one round.
  • OOB Graduated and OOB Selective share the same window, the same rounds and the same decisions; only their stakes differ.
The bet rules

All stakes use a constant $10 unit and do not depend on the balance. The current app sizes its unit from the balance you confirm; that version is not tested here.

  • OOB Graduated: no bet below −1.0% pre-bet EV; 1× unit below +0.1%; above that the bet rises in steps of 1×, 2×, 3×, 4×, 6×, 8×, 10× and 12× unit (edge per unit 0.10%).
  • OOB Selective: no bet below −1.0%; 1× unit to +0.1%; 2× unit to +1.1%; 13× unit from +1.1%.
  • Basic Strategy — Flat Bet: 1× unit on every round, Basic Strategy decisions, no EV filter.

Funding: $1,000 per account at the start of the simulation; $1,000 is added only when a stake cannot be covered. No deposit was needed inside this window.

What this replay does and does not show
  • It shows the realised results of three fixed-stake rules over one 100-hour-equivalent window of simulated play.
  • It is one window, not an average: another 100 hours can end lower, or negative, for any of the three accounts.
  • The OOB and Basic Strategy tracks share the same shuffles but follow separate card paths, so they do not play identical hands. The comparison is over the same number of rounds.
  • C is available for the OOB accounts only. R − C is the realised result minus the model contribution; it is not attributed entirely to the variation of the cards.
  • It does not test the balance-based stake sizing of the current app.
  • The simulation has since been completed with 1,000,001 cards on each track. The full-track comparison is reported separately on One Million Cards; this window and its results are unchanged.
